A Petition I’d Like You All to Sign

As you know, I am quite the idealist. If there is a chance that I can made a positive change in the world, I will take it without a second thought. Providing, of course, that it doesn’t require a lot of effort.

There’s one major thing in the world I’d like to change, and in order to do so, all you’d have to do is comment with your name (or username, whatever) and agree with it. I think if enough people go along with it, we can not just change WordPress, but we could change the fate of the entire universe as well.

Here it goes:

I think the snow feature should be allowed on WordPress blogs throughout the entire winter season, not just during the holidays. I think that once it starts snowing where I live, I should be allowed to put the snow decoration on my blog, and it is snowing outside, right now. Well, technically it’s only half-snowing. It’s like a mix of snow and rain, resulting in what can only be described as ugly slush.

Still counts!

As you may or may not know, WordPress.com allows bloggers to click an option that allows falling snow to appear on their blogs, but it’s only available from December 1st to January 4th, to celebrate the Holidays. This is complete hogwash, if you ask me.

What, so we can only enjoy snow during the holidays? What about people who don’t celebrate the Holidays? I find that quite offensive.

(I’m not actually offended, but I think if I pretend to be it’ll make me more likely to get what I want.)

Besides, February and late January is when it snows the most, at least where I live, and I think the amount of snow falling across the blog should be corresponding to the amount of snow falling outside at the given moment. For example, if there’s a blizzard outside, my blog should have so much snow falling down, in all different directions, that it is almost impossible to read the posts and the site takes hours to load. If there’s just a light flurry, then only a few gentle little snowflakes should be falling down.

I’d argue that those in the southern hemisphere should be allowed to choose the snowflake option during their winter months, but as we all know, people in the southern hemisphere don’t actually exist. That’s just a lie the government wants you to believe, and quite frankly, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to begin with. I mean, how could people live on the bottom of the planet without falling off? Use your heads, people.

As you can see, I am sleep-deprived at the moment and am not making a whole lot of sense, so I don’t think I should be held responsible for what I’ve written in this post. Unless it’s well received.

So, yeah. Sign this petition please, and one day maybe we’ll be able to use the snow-option on our blogs, even if it’s not December.

It’s time for a change, people.

    1. Understood. Perhaps there could be an option where bloggers can choose whether or not the snow will appear on other people blogs, for them specifically? (I’m not sure if that sentence made sense.)

  1. I actually did not know that WordPress had a snow feature, but now that I do, of course it should be available all winter! All year, in fact, for people who live in really cold climates. Furthermore, there ought to be a fireworks feature for New Year’s and the Fourth of July! Oh heck, while we’re at it, why not make that a year-round thing too?

  2. I loved the snow, and still do. I actually had no idea they had stopped this life-changingly terrific feature. I just blamed it on my ability to lose stuff – virtual or real 😛

    I’M IN

  3. Hey there, I found you via the NaBloPoMo blogroll.

It does not snow here, plus in December it is summer, so it is super hot. 😉 It is sometimes nice to see the snow but I prefer the snow photos people post myself. 🙂

As part of NaBloPoMo I try to comment on as many participating blogs as I can, and I also add participating blogs to my feed reader.

So I’m just dropping by to let you know I’ve added your blog to my feedreader, I’m reading you loud and clear, I have a link up going at my place so my readers can find participating blogs which you are more than welcome to add your blog link to.

Looking forward to seeing your posts, and you’ll likely see me drop by again during November.

    Happy NaBloPoMo to you!
